An Ordinary Weekend

Around 2,000 years ago, history was forever changed. Heaven broke open and released all of God’s love, mercy, power, freedom, and grace. The veil that hid His face from us was torn, and since then we have lived in close communion with the King of Kings, where before only a select few could be in His presence or hear His voice.

When history was changed, so were our stories. Jesus’s resurrection day was our resurrection day, too.

But there are many who may as well be living 2,000 years ago. The Light of Christ has not broken through into their hearts and lives - not because they’ve heard the Gospel and rejected it, but because they don’t know that this man called Jesus has broken their chains. They’ve never read his words or felt his love transform their entire being.

For them, this is just an ordinary weekend.

But you can help to change their stories, just as your story has been changed. You can help to bring the Light into their darkness. You can help them to know: Jesus loves you and he speaks your language.

Will you help make history?

Connect with The Word For The World

38 Years Into the Dream!

When The Word for the World was born on January 9, 1981, all we had was a dream… God’s Word for every person in the language God gave them, and to empower indigenous people to translate the Bible into their own language.

Why go through the demanding exercise of translating the Bible into all the languages on the face of the earth? Why not just teach everyone to understand one of the larger languages, and concentrate on making the Bible available in those languages?

As Nelson Mandela once said, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” We believe that God desires to speak to every person in their heart language, and that vision drives us to do what we do.

Thank you for working with us through these 38 years to help bring God’s Word to people in a language they can understand. You are helping people to know the Lord, to study his Word, and to know that God loves them and speaks their language.

We are already involved in first-time translations of the Bible in more than 110 languages. With your help and God’s continued blessing, we are confident we can achieve our Vision 2050: completing translation of the entire Bible in 500 languages by 2050.

We invite you to join us on this journey! Here’s to the next 38 years, and many more.

Soli Deo Gloria.

History of the Bible

TWFTW is grateful for many partners sharing the vision to bring God’s Word to all people in their heart language.

A few of our valuable partners are The Seed Company, Jesus Film and Wycliffe.

TSC states the following on their website: “God became man. Jesus was the first translation. Through God’s Word, all people can intimately know Him and His gracious gifts of freedom, mercy and hope. God is at work today. With an urgency no one could manufacture, He is recovering, restoring and redeeming His people. We are grateful He’s invited us to join Him.”
