Not Forgotten in Prayer: A Year of Hope for Central Africa

The Forgotten Middle

Bible poverty runs deep in Central Africa. Communities and tribes in this region often live in hard-to-reach places and sometimes feel forgotten by God or overlooked by people. 

One Bibleless villager said,

“Neighboring villagers would come and read the Bible to us at church in their language. When they left, we felt God would just go back with them.”

Why God Hasn’t Forgotten Central Africa

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb… — Revelation 7:9, NIV

Imagine how many Central African believers will be included in this breathtaking prophecy!

Hope rises for this region because God is faithful to His promises. He seeks and saves the lost, and He won’t stop until every one of His sheep comes to Him. One of the ways He is fulfilling this promise is through the powerful work of indigenous Bible translation.

Indigenous Translators Lead the Way 

Local Christians across Central Africa are currently leading more than 45 active Bible translation projects and more than 10 oral Bible translation projects. As these gospel workers deliver God’s Word to their communities, the Body of Christ rejoices. The Word for the World joyfully equips, trains, and supports these faithful teams as the Lord builds His Church.

When Heart Language Scripture Enters a Home

Nelson, a local Bible translator and father, didn’t expect his work to reshape his family. But as he translated a Scripture passage about love and patience, the Word began to transform his heart. He started speaking more kindly to his children, listening with intention, and building peace in his home. His wife noticed. She became curious, then supportive, and soon joined him in reading the translated Scriptures with their kids. God’s Word in their heart language didn’t just change words. It changed a family.

The great news is that across the region, tools like artificial intelligence immersed in Bible translation (AiBT) are helping translation teams work faster and more accurately, even in remote and rugged conditions. 

A Mother’s Heart Transformed by the Word in Her Language

Jackline, a Central African mother of four, once lived far from God. “Before knowing Jesus as my Savior, my life was bad,” she shares. “I lived in sin and didn’t know He could save me. But since I came to know Him, my life has changed completely.” Today, she boldly testifies about Jesus’ love, living out the truth she now understands through access to the Bible in her language. 

Not Forgotten. Not Finished.

Central Africa may be the “middle” the world forgets—but God never forgets His people, and the Body of Christ won’t stop until all have heard. 

God’s Word reaches new communities, one verse at a time, through indigenous translators called to this sacred work by the power of His Spirit.
