PRAISE GOD FOR PENTECOST

When the day of Pentecost came, Jesus’ followers were all together in one place. Suddenly, a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house. These astonished men saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each man. Each disciple was filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them.

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”  Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”

The Birth of a Movement That Continues Today
At Pentecost, God ignited a movement; one that continues to transform lives, cultures, and nations through the power of His Word in every heart language.

The Holy Spirit filled ordinary people with extraordinary power, making them the first “translators” of the Good News. With tongues of fire, these passionate evangelists proclaimed God’s truth in the tongues of unreached nations, breaking through barriers of language and culture.

For the first time, men and women from many nations heard God’s Word—not in a distant, unfamiliar tongue, but in the language that spoke to their souls.

The message was alive, personal, and unmistakably clear.

God did not limit His revelation to one language or one people. Instead, the Good Shepherd ensured His truth would spread through every language, reaching hearts in the way they could understand best.

Pentecost was just the beginning. The Church exploded across the world, lives were changed, and the power of the Gospel broke down divisions of culture, gender, and status.

But, there is still much work to do. Just under one billion people do not yet have access to God’s truth in their language.

Praise God, today, the same movement continues today.

Indigenous Bible translators carry forward the fire of Pentecost. The mission that began 2,000 years ago still unfolds, bringing hope, salvation, and transformation to the ends of the earth.

The fire of Pentecost burns brighter than ever. The vision endures with even greater urgency. And the world is being transformed—one language community at a time.
