First Light Rises One Page at a Time

I grew up in a rural village in Asia. I studied a little bit, but had to stop my education because we were in poverty and I needed to help support my family. I began working as a laborer, and later cleaned roads. During that time, an evangelist in our area distributed pamphlets and New Testaments. One day he came to my workplace and gave me a copy of the New Testament. He also shared the gospel with me, explaining that Jesus is the true God and Savior who came from heaven to earth to save all people. I took the New Testament home and read it with my husband. It was written in our language, which helped me understand it clearly. From that day, I started reading and listening to chapters from the Gospels every day, praying that God would help me understand His Word. As I read about the life of Jesus—His great works, miracles, and wonders—I was deeply amazed. Day by day, my faith and confidence grew stronger. Reading and listening to God’s Word in my mother tongue made it much easier for me to understand the message. Not only me, but my husband also believed in God and accepted that Jesus is the true Savior. Since then, both of us have been going to church and sharing the gospel with others, telling people that Jesus is the true Savior.
