All around the world, there are communities using Bible translation as a lamp--the light of the truth of the Bible directed to light their paths--and often, grassroots literacy programs are the wax, oil, and batteries that keep that light shining.

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." -Matthew 5:14-17 ESV

Stand with us in praying for the following communities and literacy programs that are fueling the work of Bible translation with The Word for the World:

1. Literacy programs are a vital part of building trust in unreached communities and introducing people to Jesus as someone who is not-so-foreign as they may think. Pray that our literacy project leaders will have wisdom and favor in meeting real community needs with practical Christian love.

2. Pray for literacy and translation projects in Malawi that need godly leaders to step up and serve. Here, many local church networks are dependent on our literacy programs to train and equip believers to be Jesus' hands and feet in their communities.

3. Pray for continued favor and success with a new publishing partner creating illustrated literacy books for children using our indigenously created material.
