“It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” Isaiah 55:11, NLT
Sometimes God uses Bible translation to sneak into people’s lives. Sasha, a translator for the Roma Arli (Serbia/Croatia) dialect, enjoys telling the story of his non-Christian neighbor whom he invited to the translation team’s book distribution. His neighbor, who practices a traditional religion, left with the Gospel of Luke and 50 other Bible stories in her own language.
Three months after attending the event and receiving the text, Sasha’s neighbor shared she had read some of the stories from the book solely with the intention of finding errors and incorrect Romani words.
But she read the biblical text.
She respected the translation as the Christian holy book, and she was glad that her people now had the Scriptures available in their specific dialect. She suggested some changes to words that made the translation stronger and more understandable.
While the inquisitive woman has not decided to follow Jesus yet, the Spirit has formed a crack to let the Light of the World into her heart.
We stand amazed that God is using Bible translation projects to transform unsuspecting lives through the truth of His Word in their heart language.
The God of all invites you to join His work. Let your life be transformed by getting involved in His-story and revel in stories from around the world expressing Christ’s love for all people.
