Empowering Communities for Bible Translation
October 8, 2021

“I thought Bible translation was just to come and translate the Bible into my language, but I have also come to realise gains and acquired more knowledge and I really want to thank God for this. One of the courses I love so much is Phonology. This was something I had never learned before but through this course I have again knowledge and I am grateful to The Word for the World and all the lecturers for setting up this wonderful and amazing DBT [Diploma in Bible Translation] online training.”

Our recent training event in Nigeria was conducted fully online, using a combination of Zoom and the online learning platform, Moodle. In total, 25 students representing 8 separate Bible translation projects attended to learn about Computer Literacy, Phonology, & Orthography as part of their Diploma in Bible Translation!

Miss Allahnanan, one of the students, said that she was grateful for the chance to expand on her knowledge of Phonology and Orthography. “To God be the glory for the great things he has done!”

Abednego said, “I am filled with extreme joy and happiness to write this testimony. It was an amazing experience being live on Zoom for the very first time. I learned so many new things online. Seeing my colleagues and collaborating with each other was awesome.

“What I really benefited from the online training was the knowledge impacted in me. I am so grateful to God Almighty for using The Word for the World to transform my community and also my colleagues.”

Please keep these students in your prayers as they process all they have learned!
