Brian R. Smith is the founder and Managing Director of S3 Ventures, where he has served since 2005. At age 29, he founded Crossroads Systems (Nasdaq: CRDS) and led it through five rounds of financing and a successful IPO in 1999, serving as Chairman and CEO for nearly four years. An early pioneer in Storage Area Networks, he was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2000. Brian began his career in product development at IBM and holds a BSEE with honors from the University of Cincinnati and an MSEE from Purdue University.
