Jonathan van Aswegen

Jonathan van Aswegen grew up as a missionary kid in Ethiopia, where his parents pioneered Bible translation projects. Called to serve during his teenage years, he has since devoted his life to ensuring access to God’s Word for all people. After a decade of ministry in Asia, he returned to lead The Word for the World in South Africa until 2024 and now serves as Chief Operations Officer of The Word for the World International. Jonathan holds MAs in Organizational Leadership and Bible Translation and a Bachelor of Theology. He and his wife, Stephanie, are parents to twins, Levi and Atira. His passion is to see lives transformed through Bible translation.

As the Chief Operations Officer of The Word for the World, Jonathan participates as an ex officio, non-voting member of the International Board.
